On our way back to New Mexico from our vacation, we got to OKC around 6am so we stopped by to visit the Memorial site. Being there was amazing and heart breaking at the same time. I found some information about each photo I took and what their reliance is to the monument.

Gates of Time

These monumental twin gates frame the moment of destruction – 9:02 a.m. – and mark the formal entrances to the Memorial. The East Gate represents 9:01 a.m. on April 19, and the innocence of the city before the attack. The West Gate represents 9:03 a.m., the moment we were changed forever, and the hope that came from the horror in the moments and days following the bombing.

Reflecting Pool

The pool occupies what was once N.W. Fifth Street. Here, a shallow depth of gently flowing water helps soothe wounds, with calming sounds providing a peaceful setting for quiet thoughts. The placid surface shows the reflection of someone changed forever by their visit to the Memorial.

Field of Empty Chairs

The 168 chairs represent the lives taken on April 19, 1995. They stand in nine rows to represent each floor of the building, and each chair bears the name of someone killed on that floor. Nineteen smaller chairs stand for the children. The field is located on the footprint of the Murrah Building.

Survivor Wall

On the east end of the Memorial stand the only remaining walls from the Murrah Building. These walls remind us of those who survived the terrorist attack, many with serious injuries. Today, more than 600 names are inscribed on salvaged pieces of granite from the Murrah Building lobby.

The Survivor Tree

The Survivor Tree, an American Elm, bore witness to the violence of April 19, 1995, and withstood the full force of the attack. Years later, it continues to stand as a living symbol of resilience. The circular promontory surrounding the tree offers a place for gathering and viewing the Memorial.

Rescuers’ Orchard

Like the people who rushed in to help, this army of nut- and flower-bearing trees surrounds and protects the Survivor Tree. An inscription encircling the Survivor Tree facing the orchard reads: To the courageous and caring who responded from near and far, we offer our eternal gratitude, as a thank you to the thousands of rescuers and volunteers who helped.

The Fence

The first Fence was installed to protect the site of the Murrah Building. Almost immediately, people began to leave tokens of love and hope on the Fence. Those items now total more than 60,000 and are collected and preserved in our archives. Today, more than 200 feet of the original Fence gives people the opportunity to leave tokens of remembrance and hope.

*more photos to come

This is Chase’s best friend and his new girl friend. They are perfect together. So happy and outgoing!!! This photo session will forever stick out in my mind simply because we were all walking close to a creek in down town where I did their session at and I was trying to get the perfect angle of them standing on a little bridge together, none the less I wasn’t really paying much attention to where I was walking and somewhere along the way I sank into mud a good 3inches up my leg, pulled my foot out and lost my shoe. Thank goodness this was a photo session for someone I have known for a long while know, so we laughed it off, retrieved my shoe, and kept going. lol. There aren’t any photo’s of my sinking into mud, but it would have been quiet hilarious had their been. Anyways, moving on- Justin and Makayla were awesome company to be around and spend the afternoon/evening with. AMAZING couple!!!!!

Our family went on a much needed family vacation back to our home town in Tennessee!!! I loved being home, being with family, and even more spending time watching my children interact with both sides of our families! Although, being at home was supposed to be the time where we didn’t do any work or do anything besides with family and friends, Chase and I managed to have jobs to do. I had a total of 15 sessions while I was at home for 3weeks and I loved every single one. However, not all of those sessions will I be sharing with you, my readers. Don’t worry, I will be posting plenty of photo’s for your viewing. One of my absolute favorite sessions was for Chase’s best friend and his new girlfriend. They are both two extraordinary human beings. I will get a few of their photo’s up in the next blog or two.

Hope everyone is having a safe and happy summer

The most amazing news EVER!!!!!! We went to Albuquerque yesterday to see Dr. Ruth (the pediatric neurologist)!!!! She read over the report from the radiologist about Lucas’ CT Scan and guess what?!?!?!?! Lucas doesn’t have Cerebral Palsy, nerve damage, or anything else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to go back to Dr. O in Clovis and yell at him for telling me that my baby had CP and possible nerve damage! For the last month and a half I have been an absolute mess because of hearing the bologna that man told me about my son! Now that we know that there is absolutly nothing wrong with our son, we can move forward with getting him up and on his cute little feet. I hadn’t been doing very many photo’s on account of everything that was going on in our lives, but it back to business!!!

FYI: someone is spreading a silly little rumor that we are PCSing (moving away) I want to clarify this, it is a LIE!!!

Here are a couple photo’s from our adventure back from Albqurque. We stopped by the dam as well as a little dive spot called The Blue Hole. The photo’s can’t even describe how amazing that place was.

Yes New Mexico has a lake with a dam. haha

The Blue Hole!!! The water clarity there is amazing!!!!

On Wednesday of this past week, we took our little boy to Lubbock to have a CT scan done on his little brain to see if he may have Cerebral Palsy. It is very nerve wracking to think something like that could be affecting our son! The reason for all of the testing they have done so far on my baby is because he hasn’t crawled like most children do starting aroung 8months of age and he doesn’t walk either. He does manage to get around by doing his own little special army kind of crawl. Surprisingly he gets around great that way. After hearing three doctors tell me that chances are my son has CP and his walking could be delayed until he is much older. Well, this morning I went to get him out of bed for breakfast as I do every morning, but this morning, when I opened his door, much to my surprise he was STANDING up on both of his little feet looking over his crib rail bouncing and giggling and grinning from one ear to the other!!! I was amazed!!! And I still am for that matter. Well, I got him out of his bed, fed him breakfast, bathed him, and then put on his clothes on and I took him into the play room where he and his sister both have toy boxes and ride on toys of all sorts. I was doing some homework and my 3 year old looks at me and says “mommy, Lucas is doing it”, I turned around to see what she was talking about and there he was again standing up without the help of anyone or anything!!! By this point, I am so blessed. I think God has answered my prayers! I didn’t have my Cannon sitting next to me, so I used my cell phone to grab a picture or two of my baby boy doing what so many had said he wouldn’t do! They aren’t the best quality, but you can get the general idea.

For everyone who keeps up with my blog and what is going on in our lives, I want to thank you for being there for me. Hearing all of the negative things that the doctors were telling me about my son weighed very heavily on my heart. I don’t know what I would have done without all of my friends being there for me. Thank you for all of your continued thoughts and prayers. Just because baby boy is standing, doesn’t mean we still don’t need the prayers. We are still going to go and see the Pediatric Neurologist in Albqurque next week. She recieved the CT scan images this morning, so hopefully she will tell us that our son is fine.

Over that last few months a lot has gone on and a lot has changed!!! Without going into a ton of details about our personal lives, our youngest child isn’t crawling or walking at 15months old, so it raised some questions within the doctors and one doctor assumed one thing without doing any kind of testing so we have been going back and forth from Lubbock to try and get some answers from a Pediatric Neurologist. Please keep our family and our son in your prayers. I am still doing photography, but my availability is very limited on account of appointments in Lubbock, Albuquerque, and even Dallas!!! If you are interested in photographs by myself of my husband, feel free to send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as we can with our available times and dates. If we aren’t available during the time frame you are wanting, I can give you another photographers contact information and website link.

In other news, our daughter turned 3 on the 30th of March! I can’t believe it, but my baby girl is growing up so fast. She is getting more and more beautiful by the day. Here are a few of the photo’s that we took the day of her party.

I am so excited that the wintery days are hopefully gone for this year! Much more snow and I think we all would be upset. I don’t know about you (my readers) but, I have been starting to notice some really pretty spring flowers starting to bloom and the tree’s are starting to get their leaves back on their branches, and lawn’s are starting to turn green once again as well! I can’t be any more excited about spring than what I am.

To kick kick off Spring 2010 just right, I want to try something a little bit new. The winner will recieve a free photo session, a CD of 50 edits and a 11×14 print of your choice! Get those entries in!!! Email the photos and information about the photo to nikki@snapmphotography.com

I am going to back track and post a few of the photo’s that I have taken in the past. According to my tracker, I have 75 unique visitors here every day!!! How cool is that?! My first family session was last July. I can honestly say that I am blessed to have met the “A” family!!! There will be an update of their family COMING SOON!!!

Here is a photo from an engagement session that I did for the “T’s”. They both work with my husband and when he mentioned to them that I was getting into photography, they were asking him if I would do their engagement photos for them. Of course I was all for it!! The pictures all came out really good!

Moving on. Little “M’s” mom and I are really good friends and have been since the day we met. She invited my family and I over to celebrate her son’s (Little M) first birthday party. Of course anything to do with a birthday party, I generally go unless one of my kids are sick or something. At the time of his party, I was only taking photo’s as a hobby and nothing more. She was very glad that I came with my camera because her camera’s batteries died before he even really got into digging in his cake. She asked me to take pictures for her and I did just that. COMING SOON- Family Photo’s of this awesome family!!!

And for my last posting… A maternity session that I did recently. “A” didn’t care that she was UBER pregnant and the energy that she had you wouldn’t have known she was pregnant other than her glowing baby bump!!! COMING SOON- photo’s of Little S!

The Littlest Heroes Project is a non-profit based organization founded in January 2008 by Felicia Reinhard, made up of professional photographers nationwide that provide free photo sessions to our nations Littlest Heroes. Through the power of photography we are giving back and taking a stand for these children who sometimes feel forgotten because of their illnesses. We are here to let them know that they are heroes to many, and to share their inspirational stories and photos with the world.

If you have a child, or know a child, who suffers from any type of serious illness or life altering disability we are here to help. The Littlest Heroes Project provides you with a complimentary photo shoot for your hero and family. Please read the information on this site and be sure to contact us so we can help pair you up with a photographer from your area. The whole family … Super Sibs and the Brave Parents are welcome to participate in the session as well!

Our mission at The Littlest Heroes Project is to help provide and capture memories for families who are dealing with hectic schedules due to having a child who is suffering from a serious illness or life altering disability. We understand that in the midst of being thrown a diagnosis and having to switch from a “normal” life to a life that is totally different, and often scary, things like getting photos taken is sometimes a huge challenge and is one of the last things families are thinking about. But when everything is done, and either the child has reached the end of their battle, or has proven the odds against it many wish they had more time to stop, and capture the journey that they lived through for so long. Through Littlest Heroes our photographers understand each and every case, and cater it to fit and honor each child and family. Our photographers are on hand to travel to homes, hospitals, clinics, fundraisers, and benefits to help capture your child’s journey in a “Day in the life” sort of style and work personally one on one with your child and entire family to get those special family photos and moments that you can cherish for years to come.
